Monday Evening Quarterback

... because I don't do mornings...

I've read many an editorial about what happened to my beloved Bronco's yesterday afternoon. Here's my take. They changed. They worried too much about what the Steelers would do, instead of concentrating on continuing to do the things they did well all year. They just did not look like the same team. The offense was so worried about Palomalu, they couldn't get off the line of scrimage. The defense was worried about the front line picking up the blitz, they couldn't get anywhere near Rothlensberger (or however you spell it - I'm blanking out what I can from the game.) And I'm sorry - but a run play at 3rd and 10, on your own 1 yard line? Rarely do I critisize Shannahan. He's got a tough job. And most of the time, I think he does a damn fine job. But this one - something seriously missed.

So, it's Better Luck Next Year. I can't tell you how many years we used to say that, back when the Bronco's couldn't buy a win. At the time, we meant "maybe next year, we'll have a winning season". At least now we consistantly have a descent shot at making the Super Bo... sorry - Big Game (don't want to have to pay royalties) each year. And for the record - I'm rooting for Bettis to get his ring. I've always liked that guy. Looks like he was raised well. Good luck, guys!!!

It looks like some of the faithful will need to start rooting for the Houston Texans. Not a surprise that Gary Kubiak is in the lead for the head coaching job down there. Maybe he can get them to come up with a more original team name.

I'm also anxious to see who Shannahan picks up in the off-season. So far, he's been pretty amazing at picking stars. And he never ceases to amaze.

And finally, a hat tip to my darling husband, who was generous enough to actually be sad my Bronco's won. Okay, so he's sad because I'm sad... (I tried really hard not to turn grouchy...) But that just makes one more reason I love him so much. Because he is decidedly NOT a Bronco's fan.

Anyone know how I can change the color of my dog? He's definitely too close to Raiders' colors, and that just will NOT do. (I'm just joking - no need to sick PETA on me.) At least my Willow is the right color.

And that's the first edition of Monday Evening Quarterback.

Battlestar Returns

Battlestar Galactica has finally returned from its mid-year hiatus. Finally! And what an episode. I have to say I love the series for the relationships it builds, then changes, and continues to develop. This Friday's episode was the first of 2, and I was ready for it to be next Friday already. They leave me wanting more... now... And in my book, that's the sign of a great series. I'd love to see it receive some awards and recognition for its brilliance. Yes, it is "Critically Aclaimed". Unfortunately, not by those who give out awards that allow such great series to be more common. Once again, pandering to the lowest common denominator is more profitable. *sigh*
