One Step Closer

We had our final Homestudy interview on Monday. The report should be done sometime this week. That's one more things done on the road to China. Also good news - our Social Worker got her match today. I'm so excited for her!!!

And thank you to Katherine for once again throwing a brilliant Quad party last Saturday! Much fun was had, and the sunrise was... okay, I didn't really see the sun come up. I just know it was bright as we were heading home. I had my eyes shut. ;-p And homework on Sunday was more difficult than usual. I thought it was becuase I was hung over. But I hear my sober friends had trouble as well. Whew.

The Chase is On

We had our first Home Study interview yesterday. About what I expected - lots of thought provoking questions. Thankfully, we had already thought-provoked them. ;-) Many of the questions our social worker asked, we had aready talked about. Makes me feel even more so that we are on the right path.

I am constantly amazed at the number of people involved in getting us through the adoption process who are also in the process themselves. Our social worker has a daughter from China already, and is waiting anxiously every day for her match for a second daughter. Our Immigration and Intake support person has her dossier in China now, and is waiting for her match. I appreciate that they can give us unique perspectives on how each step feels. Not just the technicalities of what needs to happen - but they can also commiserate on how challenging each step is, how they felt going through it. And it speaks volumes on the professionalism of CCAI that so many of their adopting families go through it again a second and even third time.

So, Lexie - we are one step closer to you!

Certifiable

Yes, I am certifiably nuts. And it will most likely get worse as we go along. Why you ask? Well, I managed to get all the paperwork needed for the application submitted to CCAI last week. We were approved today. Can I get a bit WhoopWhoop? Orientation is on Saturday. Yes, Saturday. I've already printed out a ream of paperwork just to bring with us!

Why do I need to get it printed out so soon? I've got 2 more days? Nope - have to fly to Raliegh tomorrow night for a meeting on Friday. Back late Friday night.

8:30 am Saturday - a 4 hour orientation meeting. Just the start of our 24 hours of required training.

And you should see the paperwork just instructing you on how to submit your paperwork!

Oh, and did I mention, we may want/need/be able to get our Home Study done in one month? This sometimes takes up to 3... Anyone want to come help me declutter my house?

And of course, there is another trip to Virginia thrown in there as well. PLUS Alex's birthday! And football. (Can't forget football. I'm on 2 fantasy leagues this year. Go Celts! Go Huskies!)

All I can think is Alexa Rae is arriving at a certain time, and we need to be ready.

And yes, I'm way excited. We are on our way! I need to learn some Chinese.
